Wines of Romania and Moldova

You are cordially invited to join Dmitrii Curbet, the owner of Salveto Wine Distributors this Thursday, January 20 at 7 pm to taste through and learn about the wines of Romania and of the Republic of Moldova. The event will be hosted by Sonoma Cellar, a restaurant and wine tasting bar located in Old Town Alexandria at 207 King Street.

Salveto Wine Distributors was established in 2016 by Dmitrii Curbet and Gray Mosby, two guys with years of experience in the wine industry in Virginia and Washington, DC. They also shared one unique common denominator: both of their mothers are wine-makers. Dmitrii’s mom, now retired, made wine in Moldova for decades. He started Salveto in 2008, importing wine from his native Moldova. Gray’s mother, started making wine in the late ’90s in New Zealand, following a lifelong dream. Presently Salveto imports wine from 7 countries and distributes wine from 15 countries. Salveto is based in Alexandria VA and distributes in VA, DC, and MD. Additionally, Salveto imports are sold in other States in the US. 

Sonoma Cellar is small family owned company located in Olde Town Alexandria, in a historic 1810 townhouse that features a wine tasting room with bar, a main dining room and an amazing back garden, just three blocks from the Potomac. Sonoma Cellar offers wines from 180+ Sonoma California-specific wineries that have small to medium production levels and also produce reserve and estate-quality wines. Additionally, select wines from 20+ Virginia-based wineries are also offered, giving visitors the opportunity to taste various different varietals from that robust growing region.  Additional wines from other key regions will be offered on a limited basis for tasting, comparison and pairing purposes.
