NATO’s Mircea Geoană on Security, Freedom, and Prosperity in Eastern Europe

The Atlantic Council’s Freedom and Prosperity Center will host a discussion featuring Mircea Geoană, Deputy Secretary General of NATO on Security, Freedom, and Prosperity in Eastern Europe. This conversation will take place on Tuesday, May 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ET.

Deputy Secretary General of NATO Mircea Geoană offers his analysis on the most successful policies implemented on the path to freedom and explores the future of Eastern Europe. Ambassador Kelley Currie, former US Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Council and alternative representative to the UN General Assembly, will deliver opening remarks. The discussion will be moderated by Dan Negrea, Senior Director with the Freedom and Prosperity Center at the Atlantic Council.

Post-communist Eastern Europe has made impressive strides on the path to freedom and prosperity. This conversation will focus on examining the most successful policies implemented on this path, as well as on exploring the future of Eastern Europe. The discussion will also touch upon the roles of the European Union and NATO in the region and in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
