Story Time | Ora de povești

June 2 @ 4:00 pm 5:00 pm

Romanians of DC has the distinct pleasure to invite the young children in our community to Story Time an event marking the International Children’s Day. This will take place on Sunday, June 2 from 4 until 5:00 pm at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore located in Potomac Yards at 3651 Richmond Highway in Alexandria, Virginia.

Local Romanian-American authors Andreea Habash and Andreea Rebăltescu will be reading, in English, their children’s books. A special guest will also be reading, in Romanian, a few of the classical children’s stories. This is a free event intended from children from 2 until 10 years old!

Andreea Habash is the founder of “It’s Theo’s World” and author behind the books. Her journey into writing children’s books began by observing how her son, Theodor, interacted with them which sparked a pivotal question: “Why are young children’s books rooted in exaggerated illustrations and nonsensical text when our reality holds so much magic already?” This led to the creation of a series of books using only photorealistic images and text that is grounded in real-world information. Why? Because science says toddlers can better connect with and understand the world when they see and learn things that reflect their reality. Andreea is a lifelong learner, an avid tennis player, and finds joy in the simple things in life like taking long walks. Her background is marked by a successful tenure as the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for a leading investment advisory firm. Born and raised in Romania, Andreea has a deep passion for the beauty of nature. Through “It’s Theo’s World,” she aims not just to transform children’s literature, but to shine a spotlight on the profoundness of seeing the world through the eyes of a child. Andreea Rebăltescu’s journey began in Bistrița Năsăud county in Romania, nestled at the foot of the Rodna Mountains, and led her to the United States in 2006 after graduating from the Gheorghe Dima Conservatory in Cluj. She was fortunate to spend her childhood surrounded by a loving family, mountains, and fresh springs, making their way down through the thick forests. All that stimulated her creativity at a young age; she loved to sing, draw, and write. After years of adapting, and adopting everything from the American culture, one thing was clear, she will never give up her dreams. Little Storm was just one of them. She wrote it soon after giving birth to her first daughter, Rhea. Besides being a published author, Andreea is also a Co-founder of Sun Media Shine, a digital marketing agency, an entertainer, and a Mindset Coach.

Books by the two Romanian American authors will be available for purchase at Barnes & Noble for anyone interested in getting a copy.
